Meet Pat Root - 1/15/2010

Aurora, ON - Meet Pat Root, a grade 11 boarding student at St. Andrew's College (SAC) in Aurora, Ontario.  Originally from Hamilton, he played for last season's ALLIANCE and Provincial Champion, the Hamilton Reps Major Midget team, and is now enjoying playing for SAC's Varsity Hockey team - the Saints.

The team is comprised primarily of players who have completed one or two years of midget hockey.  The Saints play in two leagues, CISAA (Conference of Independent Schools), which is Ontario based, and the MPHL (Midwest Prep Hockey League), which has teams in both the US and Canada.  The Saints ae four-time defending CISAA Champions, and have won the MPHL two of the last three seasons.  The team rounds out its schedule with tournaments and showcases bringing its game total to somewhere between 50-55 games.

Pat has played an integral role on a blue line that has led the team to a record of 21-7-2 (as of January 14th).   His maturity on and off the ice has been a real benefit to the Saints, and he is relied upon at all times.

In the classroom, Pat is upholding an 83% average and was named an academic scholar for his first term in grade 11.  He is a leader in his boarding house and will most certainly assume further leadership positions at the school in the near future.

Pat's athletic prowess isn't exclusive to hockey.  He was recently named to Canada's Senior Men's Floorball team and is alos a blue chip prospect in field lacrosse.  Pat has garnered interest from a number of NCAA schools this year for both lacross and hockey.
